The complex nature of weight management places a need within the industry to provide highly skilled practitioners for those clients who present with more complex needs.
The 11133NAT Diploma of Weight Management is designed for individuals who wish to develop the skills, knowledge and experience in planning, conducting and evaluating advanced weight management programs. Advanced practitioners/health coaches have the ability to apply specialised skills and knowledge above the level possessed by practitioners/coaches.
We have created 2 streams of this course depending on the individuals career goal...
Stream 1 - Practice Manager
Already in a supervisory position and/or working in an existing business
- - NAT10859001 Work effectively in the weight management industry
- - NAT10859002 Apply principles of psychology, mindset and behaviour modification to weight management
- - NAT10859003 Develop meal plans in consultation with clients
- - NAT10859004 Make exercise recommendations for weight management in consultation with clients
- - HLTAAP001 Recognise healthy body systems
- - HLTAAP002 Confirm physical health status
- - BSBMED301 Interpret and apply medical terminology appropriately
- - CHCCOM006 Establish and manage client relationships
- - CHCDIV001 Work with diverse people
- - CHCPOL003 Research and apply evidence to practice
- - CHCPRP003 Reflect on and improve own professional practice
- - NAT11133001 Conduct health screening for advanced weight management programs
- - NAT11133002 Develop advanced weight management programs
- - NAT11133003 Deliver and monitor advanced weight management programs
- - CHCLEG003 Manage legal and ethical compliance
- - BSBOPS504 Manage business risk OR HLTAID011 Provide first aid
Please Note - Students are only required to complete one of the two in Unit 16, they can choose which one suits their needs once they reach the end of the course but they are provided with access to both that in the event they want to obtain 17 Units of Competency instead they can choose this option also.

Duration: 5-10 hours per week over a 18-month duration.

Through this qualification, you will develop the essential skills to educate clients about contributing factors to weight gain, identify program needs, and develop research-based programs. While underpinned by an educative approach to the concept of the human body as a non-linear and complex adaptive system.

- Hold the 10576NAT Certificate IV in Weight Management (or its successor) or AQF level 4 in a relevant field
- Basic computer skills including email and Microsoft Word
- High level of language, literacy and numeracy
